There was great interest from overseas buyers at last week’s extremely successful Textile Forum, a fact picked up by Drapers, the fashion business magazine, which selected this aspect as the headline for its early news story on the show. Buyers came from Scandinavia, Slovakia and Italy, as well as from all part of the UK, including Northern Ireland.
The first visitor through the doors was a bridalwear specialist from Belfast, who had attended in October and was looking for fabrics for her new rtw collection. In addition to the hundreds of independent designers there were representatives from Zara, Arcadia, Debenhams, ASOS, as well as theatre companies and entertainment groups.
More than 100 students attended a special briefing by executives from Holland & Sherry, Makower, James Hare, Hainsworth and The National Weaving Company before having a chance to review all 55 collections before the show officially opened.
